The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently announced that two Scion vehicles, the 2011 Scion tC and the 2011 Scion xB were recipients of Top Safety Pick awards.
Checkered Flag Scion proudly shares this news with those considering a Scion in Virginia. View the new inventory of both of these vehicles at: http://scion.checkeredflag.com/index.htm
Top Safety Picks are given to vehicles that receive “good” ratings in front, side, rollover and rear crashes in IIHS tests. These vehicles must also now have available electronic stability control, a feature that significantly reduces crash risk.
Beneath the hood of the second-generation tC is a sporty 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine offering a thrill-inducing 180 horsepower. The tC’s two all-new six-speed transmissions both provide a better on-road experience, acceleration and fuel economy. Its these powertrain features that help the new tC use less to produce more.
The 2011 Scion tC also offers a key safety innovation: a supplemental restraint system (SRS) front passenger knee airbag. In total, the tC features eight airbags, including driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, driver knee airbag, and side curtain airbags.
The Top Safety Pick award was not the first victory for the Scion tC this year. The tC was also named a Consumers Digest “Best Buy”. This distinction is earned through exceptional performance in the following areas: performance (acceleration, shifting, steering, braking, fuel economy), safety ratings, ownership costs, available warranties, price, comfort, ergonomics, styling, and amenities.
The xB is one of the more distinctive vehicles on the road with its quirky cube-like style and design. While straying from convention with its looks, drivers will find the xB to be quite practical with plenty of room for five passengers and cargo.
The 2011 xB is perfect for the Virginia Scion shopper looking to stand out from the pack.
The xB offers an enjoyable driving experience with its 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. Shoppers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic. The xB also offers noteworthy fuel economy, achieving 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Standard features on the 2011 Scion xB include: power windows and locks, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and a telescopic steering wheel with audio controls. The xB is also equipped with a remarkable six-speaker Pioneer Audio system, an auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod connectivity, and satellite radio capability.
With so much to offer, including award-winning safety, the 2011 Scion tC and the 2011 Scion xB are excellent options for those considering a new car in Virginia.

The BMW X3, the world’s first small, premium Sports Activity Vehicle, has been a best seller for BMW since being introduced in 2004. While many automakers have tried to follow the X3 with entries of their own into the segment, few have been able to keep pace.
Keeping up just got more challenging.
The all-new, second-generation X3 has arrived at Checkered Flag BMW, one of the leading dealers serving Virginia Beach BMW shoppers.
In the most literal sense, keeping up will prove difficult thanks to the naturally-aspirated 3.0-liter inline six in the X3 xDrive 28i and the turbocharged version of the same engine in the X3 xDrive 35i. The engine in the xDrive 28i is among the lightest, fastest and most responsive 6-cylinder engines in the class with 240 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The xDrive 35i, meanwhile, wields even more power and agility with 300 horsepower and a trip from 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds.
To fully take advantage of that power, the X3 makes use of xDrive Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This innovative system keeps the X3 under complete control in any conditions by sensing changes in the road and reacting almost instantly.
The X3 will offer top performance, but also the best fuel consumption and emission levels in its class, yet another way the newest X3 will put distance between itself and the competition.
The 2011 X3 adds more refinement with an incredibly quiet cabin. Free from road noise, passengers can easily carry on conversation or enjoy their favorite music streamed wirelessly via Bluetooth from their smartphone or MP3 player. The X3 comfortably seats five and is well-equipped to carry their belongings as well with folding rear seats and between 19 and 56.6 cubic feet of space.
Needless to say, Virginia Beach BMW customers can expect more from the 2011 BMW X3.
For more information on the newest look for the trendsetting X3, call Checkered Flag BMW at 757-273-7906 or visit its website at http://bmw.checkeredflag.com/
